Yet, there are no accredited academic institutions capable of training students in the varied sciences of Islam, while also instilling in them a sophisticated understanding of the intellectual history and culture of the West. Clearly, there is an essential need for Muslim institutions that can wed Islam’s classical texts with the contemporary context.

Imam Zaid Shakir is amongst the most respected and influential Islamic scholars in the West. As an American Muslim who came of age during the civil rights struggles, he has brought both sensitivity about race and poverty issues and scholarly discipline to his faith-based work.

Sacred Knowledge is an independent UK-based initiative formed in 2007 under the guidance of Shaykh al-Sayyid Muhammad al-Yaqoubi. Our primary aim is the transmission of traditional Islamic sciences through qualitative and dynamic Islamic programmes, audio CD's and books.
